Ludovico Pontecorvo is a physicist and technical coordinator of the ATLAS experiment at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).
He was a student/technician at CERN for over a year, during which time he worked directly on the “UA1” experiment, a particle detector at the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS).
He later joined the High Energy Physics group at the INFN (National Institute of Nuclear Physics) in Rome, of which he has been a member since 1993.
At ATLAS, he has made various contributions to the construction of the muon spectrometer tracking chambers. In 2005, he arrived at CERN to focus on the installation and commissioning of the barrel muon spectrometer. He later became the project leader for the ATLAS muon system.
